About the BID

Your Billericay is the trading name of Billericay Business Improvement District (BID) and is an independent, not for profit, business-led initiative working to create the environment for businesses in Billericay town area to succeed.

Business Improvement Districts nationwide provide a mechanism for businesses in a designated area to pool their resources and invest in agreed products and services. Your Billericay BID was established in 2024 and is in its first year of a 5-year term following a successful ballot in November 2024. The Billericay BID runs from January 2025 and will go to reballot in 2029.

A BID (Business Improvement District) is a designated zone (BID Area) in which businesses (BID Levy Payers) benefit from a wide range of additional services over and above those funded through the standard commercial rates and council services.

Constituted by UK law in 2004, a BID is a powerful, independent voice representing the interests of a varied community of organisations, committed to working together to ensure that the town continues to progress whilst providing the best possible trading and working environment for its occupiers.

The business led and business funded organisation will raise over £600,000 to invest in Billericay town centre over the five year term, raised from a levy of 2% of the rateable value of eligible business premises.

Your Billericay is 100% business led and business managed and it is governed by a board that meets monthly. If your business would like to join as a board member please get in touch with us via the BID Manager.

As well as our 227 levy payers, Your Billericay BID will consider working with businesses outside of the town centre who want to support our initiatives and get involved. These are known as voluntary levy payers. For more information about becoming a voluntary levy payer, please get in touch.

ℹ️

What are BIDs?

Business Improvement District (BIDs) are agreements where businesses collaborate to decide on improvements for their town or city centre, how to implement them, and how to fund them. They are financed and managed by businesses in the designated area, run for up to five years, and must demonstrate clear benefits to those who fund them.

ℹ️

Why do we need a BID?

Billericay is a thriving town, but it must adapt to stay competitive amid tighter public finances and rival towns with BIDs investing heavily in their centres. Achieving BID status gives local businesses (retail, leisure, tourism, office, and commercial) control over projects and services, boosting the town’s profile, attracting visitors, increasing footfall and spending.

ℹ️

What can BIDs deliver?

BIDs can deliver any projects or services that are agreed by the businesses in the Business Improvement District area. These projects must go over and above anything that is already provided through business rates and by the local authority. t’s up to you as  businesses to help shape what the BID in Billericay might deliver.
